Jarrariums - Just made this jarrarium, any idea how I can get rid of this foggyness? Or will it dissappear on its own?

Can we make a list of plants(besides moss) that works well in smaller jarriums?

Bubbles from starwort roots - oxygen?

Posted: 06 Nov 2020 06:41 AM PST

When I watch the base of my water starwort in my jarrium, I can see the occasional but steady bubble rise from the roots. Is this the plant's oxygen providing properties in action?

Jarrium update: Day 06

Day 6 and now looking quite clear. There's been no sighting of the leech I discovered last Monday, which means he either fled the tank (and is now dead and shrivelled somewhere unknown) or he's lying dormant somewhere within. I strongly suspect the former. Daphnia are still present, but their numbers are much reduced. I added some Water Starwort but I'm not sure they're going to take as I didn't bury their roots very well.

This specimen is not teeming with life as I hoped, and I suspect its survival is hanging by a fine thread. But I guess this is the gamble you take with these things.

Colorful low light plants

Posted: 05 Nov 2020 05:16 PM PST

I'm planning my first jarrarium to ask for for Christmas.

Are there any low light plants on the small side that are not green? I just want a different color to break up the greenness, but I plan on a sort of smallish jarrarium with limited to medium light (I'll either keep it near a window or within 4-5 feet of a 48 watt light)

Preference is for red plants but I really just want one non-green one of any color

how essential is pearling?

Posted: 05 Nov 2020 01:22 PM PST

my plants seem to only pearl when there are few/no floaters blocking the light. i currently have bladder snails and am planning to add neo shrimp to my jarrarium. its 2.5 gal, no filter, dirted, and planted. ive heard plants only pearl when theres a max amount of o2 in the water, but will these animals be ok without so much pearling?
