Betta Fish Aquariums - I was one of those ignorant people about these beautiful babies! I was told a 1.5 gallon with not filter or heater was GREAT for a betta. I saw how sad lil Apple looked a week of being in his unfitted ‘tank’ and decided to finally do my research and give him a home he deserved!

My female isn't interested in breeding. I have a 82 F heater and sponge filter. They are both in a half full 20G tall. I let them acclimate to each other with a divider overnight. more info below ↓

My very planted 20g long was looking lonely with only shrimp. So I picked up “Tiny”! I’ll give him a real name once his colors show.

Help me please I know something is wrong with my sweet girl

Posted: 03 Nov 2020 07:14 AM PST

Hi, so I have an elephant ear female. Her name is Sappho and I love her so much. She has always had so much energy and loves to hide and swim all over her 5 gallon tank. When I sat down at my desk to do work she would swim over to the corner nearest to me to say hello. Until last night when she decided she just wanted to hide in the rocks. I thought it was weird and took note and went to bed. Now she will not leave the side of her heater and is floating horizontally at the surface of the water (her gills are moving). Please help me, she means the world me to and she helps so much with my mental health. She was doing so well. I know fish die sometimes and that I can always get a new one, it's the circle of life but I'm not giving up on her. Please help me.

How can we get Petsmart to stop their cruel treatment of bettas?

Posted: 03 Nov 2020 08:32 AM PST

It is so sick the way that petsmart and other big pet chains keep bettas. In tiny cups with no heater and nothing to entertain themselves. The petsmart worker said they are sometimes in those for months! It is so inhumane, and I was wondering if there is anything we can do to stop it. People have said stop buying them but I'm talking about more drastic action. Like a petition? Or honestly anything?

If anyone has any ideas on how to stop this please let me know because it is heartbreaking and should not be allowed.
