Aquatic Snails I’ve had a few people ask what the White Wizard Trapdoor snail (Filopaludina martensi) looks like as an adult so here is a comparison with a baby. The adult photo is courtesy of u/champagnejack

Any idea what this white mucus-like liquid is? My Nerite was acting normal during it's first week in my tank. Then it became inactive, so I put it in a temporary breeding chamber and gave it a catfish pellet. Saw this about an hour later.

Snail covered in a layer of white fuzz. I'm worried it's fungus or vorticella.

How bad do greater pond snails (Lymnaea stagnalis) eat plants and any pictures?

Did a small stole from the wild (they breed profusely) I like them a lot they are big and adorable but I need to know how bad they eat plants so I know how or where to set them up permanently. 💚

Snail (Campeloma decisum) has not come out of shell for 5 days

Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:44 PM PST

I got this snail from a nearby lake in PA and I've had her for 2 months. She recently had babies and is usually very active, but has been in her shell for about 5 days with the operculum tightly shut. If the operculum is tightly closed, does that mean it's still alive?

I don't think it has much to do with water quality because my other snails are just fine.

Injured snails

I have 4 purple mystery snails and I've found out the hard way that two are female. I've seen my snails breeding over the past few days, and I know they lay their eggs on land. I have a lid on my aquarium which does have a small gap (about an inch). However, my snails are around 2 inches in diameter, so I didn't think they'd be able to get through. Well two females did, I think looking for a place to lay their eggs. They both fell off the table the aquarium is on and cracked their shells; this happened overnight, so I didn't find the until the morning. They both had retracted into their shells, so I put them in a bowl of tank water to see if they were still alive. Both came out and one extended her siphon to breathe air from the surface, but neither really moved around anywhere. Now back in the tank, I've seen my one snail move a little bit as I find her in different places periodically and saw her burrowing in the sand. But both snails spend most of their time tucked inside their shells, occasionally their bodies hang out a bit and I think they're dead, but every time I touch them they retract back into their shells. Is there anything I can do to help them recover? I know they're in shock right now, and I'm worried about them.
