I was woken up very early this morning by my cat meowing weirdly (she usually hardly meows at all). I went out to the kitchen to see what was going on, and she was sitting there intently staring at an Amano shrimp which was flipping around on the floor! I scooped the shrimp up and tossed it back in the tank, it seemed no worse for wear and started swimming around. I wasn't planning to get up until a few hours later, so the shrimp would have been either dried up or a cat snack if she hadn't woken me up.

Interbred Shrimps? A friend gave me some shrimps for my new tank. Not sure if they are interbred or some other type or shrimp species, but they look cool and most importantly they seem healthy and that’s all I care about. :)

Shrimp slap-fights

Hi everybody! I have a neocaridina tank with adults, shrimplets and some juvenile shrimp. Lately, within the past few days, I've been noticing some of the juveniles seemingly fighting each other. They'll be calmly walking and then they get a little close to each other and just suddenly start slapping each other in the face with their little legs for a few seconds. And then they just walk off. Has anybody else experienced this? They're not fighting over food. They're just crossing paths when it happens. Any idea why they're getting into slapping fights?
