Hi guys, I'm new to the hobby and have fallen in love with the idea of having a small aquarium in my room. I have a budget of around 150£. I definitely want to have live plants in there however I'd want it to be low maintenance so preferably one that survive without added CO2. What are some things I need to be aware of when I start doing this?

Just got home from work. Checked in on my shrimp, and saw a lot of teeny tiny tiny white specs crawling all over my glass. Are my shrimp in trouble???

Had to share this. These guys and hydra are my biggest fears. I’m not too good with shrimp and those just make me freak out. I consider them the enemy.

Dying shrimp help please

Posted: 14 Oct 2020 11:54 PM PDT

Hey guys. I have had shrimp for years and have 3 tanks. Two of the three are doing great. However one of them is not. It's a brand new tank one week old,

-fluval 80l with the filter that came with it -2 sponge filters from their old tank. One if turned on and one is turned off -1 large carbon black material from their old filter to add bacteria. -two toys, one tree trunk toy that's new and a snake chest toy - one large driftwood from old tank -lots of val grass and moss

I haven't water changed it yet. I'm testing the water tonight and waiting for things to stabilise. Today alone I found 15 dead shrimp

In the tank there is 5 platys Around 8 baby guppy 2 bn 20 shrimp

Temp varies from 26on to 29 during the day I feed fish flakes, 2 algae wafers daily

Ii added prime to the tap water like I did with my other tanks that are doing fine. The only change is this tank is new and this tank is a little warmer.

Any idea what could be happening?

Vacuum for small shrimp tank?

Posted: 14 Oct 2020 07:53 PM PDT

Does anyone know of a good vacuum for small tanks with shrimp, 5-10 gallon. I use a siphon but I have 10 tanks and it takes awhile. I have to constantly kink the hose to manually adjust the flow. It would be nice to have something consistent and speed it up a bit.
