BingBing is so used to me training him that if I'm anywhere near the tank he won't act naturally haha so I have to take photos of him from across the room with a zoom lens like I'm on a fish safari.

Is the Fluval 13.5 good for a beginner?

Posted: 03 Oct 2020 10:06 PM PDT

I have been keeping fish for a while but I really want get into the saltwater hobby. I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with it and what they've thought of it so far. I'm looking for a cheaper tank without breaking the bank and anyone who has had experience with it, can the light it comes with grow corals?

First reef tank question

Posted: 03 Oct 2020 11:46 PM PDT

Theoretically, if you had no experience but a big budget ($10k+) would it be best to start off small to gain experience and work your way up, or should you go all out and buy the biggest and best equipment as a long term investment?

Posted: 03 Oct 2020 06:29 PM PDT

I have a 9 gal fluval flex but its more like 8 or so gallons because the Sand bed is kinda deep ( not intentional ) but th sand ig getting algae and i was wondering if there was a goby species or something that could help keep ot clean instead of constantly stirring it?

Flow and Lighting - Mixed Messages

Posted: 03 Oct 2020 07:16 PM PDT

New hobbyist here. When I read posts here about corals not doing well, I frequently see responses to try different levels of flow and light. Just as frequently I see people advised to leave it alone for a while. I get the same advice from the folks at my LFS, who seem to alternate telling me to try a different height or that I'm screwing around with my corals too much.

I'm wondering if there's a cutoff in the time I should give a coral in a spot before trying a new one. A few days? A week? A month?

Any clarity you all can provide would be a huge help.

Edit: a word
