Goldfish panic!!

Posted: 17 Oct 2020 02:39 PM PDT

Guys I've just had a full panic! I was sat in bed and heard a tapping... thought nothing of it and continued browsing Reddit when I heard the tapping again, like a cracking sound... sat up immediately and searched my tabk for any signs of cracks and found nothing... was about to head back to my bed when I heard the noise again. Looked at Fred and saw he had the biggest stone in his mouth! I watched him for a second hoping he'd spit it out but it wouldnt come... he was swimming frantically round and into the glass (hence the tapping)... washed my hands and caught him in the net and as he got netted the rock fell out! Thankfully.

I didn't think this gravel was big enough for them to get stuck but that one piece was honestly huge compared to the rest of the gravel!! Panicking now that he'll have damaged his mouth! Going to have to swap the gravel out for sand or something instead!

Goldfish w/ growth on eye

Posted: 17 Oct 2020 04:39 PM PDT

I recently bought a new tank via the Nextdoor app and it came with some fish. One of the fish is a goldfish with a weird growth on each of its eyes. The water is very dirty and the owner said that he had not cleaned it for a while so that could be a cause. The fish is acting as normal as a goldfish could be, I just want to make sure that it's ok.

Algae wafers

Posted: 17 Oct 2020 02:28 PM PDT

I have a black moor in a 30 gallon with a mystery snail, and I like to give the snail an algae wafer from time to time. The problem is, the black moor goes for them as well.

Is it okay if he munches on the wafers as well?

Please help! - our five year old goldfish seems to be on its last legs, with what we think is high nitrate levels ?! :( running out of ideas.

Posted: 17 Oct 2020 02:27 AM PDT

I Made a previous post about high nitrate levels in our 5 year old goldfish's tank:( - have been doing partial water changes (20% ish) everyday, but more so the day before yesterday (before i got back home my mum said she had done a 40% change) and have used aquarium salt and tetra nitrate minus, but theres only been a slight decrease in nitrate levels and today he seems to be on his last legs - hes floating vertically gasping for air. He also hasnt eaten in almost a week - weve tried peas and just small amounts of his food. I hate seeing him like this and im not sure what else i can do :( any one have more expertise than me and can offer last ditch advice? I dont want to just sit around watching him die:( thanks guys.

Please help I think my black moor has ich

Posted: 17 Oct 2020 04:01 AM PDT

There are white spots on the body of the black moor however he is acting fine. I dont want to risk it. Any advice on what to buy to treat. Would aquarium salt be good however keeping in mind they are in a pond.
