Please help! :( My mystery snail escaped, fell 5 feet down, and broke a lot of her shell on my hardwood floor. What can I do to help her? :(

Mystery snail won’t move after introducing it to the aquarium

Mystery snail won't move after introducing it to the aquarium

My daughter and I recently purchased 3 snails, one of which was a mystery snail. The other 2 snails (not mystery snails) immediately started exploring the aquarium. Our mystery snail, however, didn't move at all for 24 hours. After 24 hours, my daughter searched many sites including Reddit and discovered many people were having the same issue. We attempted to position our mystery snail various ways, but our snail refused to move. We noticed that when we put our snail into the tank with the opening facing the bottom, he would try to extend his trapdoor, then fall on his side. We finally came up with a quick solution that worked for us and our snail and we wanted to post it in case this may help someone else experiencing the same issue.

1) We took a small plastic container and placed just enough aquarium water so that the snail would be completely submerged.

2) Next, we took the snail out of the aquarium and placed him next to the wall of the plastic container (as shown in the image below), with the opening of his shell facing downwards.

3) After leaving the snail alone for about 15 minutes, it began to emerge out of its shell. While it began to open its trapdoor, the leverage from the trapdoor landed the snail sideways. It was then able to attach itself to the inside wall of the container by using the trapdoor to push and rotate itself. We waited until the snail was above the water level but below the edge to discourage the snail from wanting to retreat completely into its shell in case it became frightened during the next steps. Also, we waited until the snail was high enough on the container for us to be able to fill the bottom with enough gravel to weigh down the container, as detailed below.

4) Next, we placed the container along with the snail back into the aquarium next to one of the sides of the aquarium, filled the container with the aquarium water and placed a small amount of rocks from the aquarium floor into the container to make it sink and stay at the bottom, where this is plenty of solid surface area for it to latch to.

5) Finally, we waited until the snail finally climbed to the outside of the container and then attached itself to the aquarium wall. After that, we removed the container and the snail continued to explore the aquarium with no issues.

(There are two arrows in the image. One is a blue arrow, pointing counter clockwise that is labeled \"snail head\" while the green arrow is pointing clockwise and labeled as \"trapdoor\". )

Mystery snails took 6 weeks to hatch?

Posted: 01 Oct 2020 08:11 PM PDT

Mid August my mystery snail laid a clutch. I looked up a video on how to hatch them, and they suggested putting the eggs in a small container with a wet paper towel and a lid, because the person said they needed humidity (my tank doesn't have a lid). After 5 weeks I just figured my eggs were dead cus I had read that they usually hatch at 2-3 weeks, sometimes 4.

So when five weeks rolled around I thought they were dead and I just chucked the eggs in a 2.5 gal tank that I was just using to grow plants in. Today I noticed 8 mystery snails on the glass that can't be more than 5 days old. Why did they take so long to hatch?

These ramshorn snails are so cute! My betta was pecking them but sort of just ignore them after a day aside from occasional flaring.

My Nerite snail Gary had been acting weird, or basically not doing anything for days. I’m terribly worried. He’s pulled back into his shell. Smells fine, so I think he’s still alive. I hope this cucumber wakes him up again. More tips are welcome!
