Snail plague?

Hi! I had 5 adult mystery snails and 12 baby mystery snails. In the past month, I've lost 4 of the adults to a mysterious ailment. They start occasionally floating, and then within a week or two they're dead. This hasn't effected any of my baby snails. Does anybody have any idea what this could be?

Does keep 1 snail work in a betta tank? Will the snail still lay eggs if it's alone?
