- Another morning in the shrimp tank!
- Caught molting on camera!!
- Itch itch itch
- Finally caught one of my Amanos swimming up to steal food during fish feeding time!
- Zoom Zoom!
- I had hoped a betta and some endler guppies would help keep my shrimp population in check, but they just completely ignore the shrimp.. I'd guess I'm getting close to around 200 in here
- My first berried shrimp? What to do next if that’s the case
- My small Cherry colony
- I'm angry.
- Caught a bamboo fanning in the tank at work.
- Guess what are these? Not neos yellow shrimps
- I love my shrimpsons!
- Cycling this tank to give my shrimp an upgrade =]

| Posted: 18 Sep 2020 09:20 PM PDT I used to own a small group of RCS in my ten gallon, within two weeks the tank was infested with vorticella. This was the first time I had ever owned shrimp and it only took me half a month to kill all of them and waste 100 dollars. For months I blamed myself and never thought I should own shrimp again because that would just be animal abuse. I let the bladder snails overrun my tank, turned out the lights, and let it rot. A few months later I got a job and a few hundred dollars, so I selfishly thought about the tank and owning another pet. I shinned a flashlight into the dark green opaque water and there were still snails thriving, so I thought, "well I can at least put some plants and light in it". This time I bought all my stuff online and found out the guys I knew sold mini Christmas moss also sold glass shrimp for .75, so I bought two asking for his least favorite ones. He gave me two small feeder shrimp and threw this tiny little disabled one who had no legs in for free. Its been a while and I got three more. The disabled one is named Freddie and he has doubled in size. He eats by filter feeding at the top occasionally where garbage and lilies float around to pick at, he is always upside-down and uses his claws to grab at the surface and now that he has grown I think his feet are just paralyzed and tucked in, he can't move his swimmerets, but sometimes I see him use his main spidery legs. I went back to my old supplier since I felt like I could show my face there again to buy some Anubis because my snails ate all the cute little plants I got. next to the plant tank was the shrimp tank and I noticed the Hong Kong stripped and Blue Velvet shrimp and thought about getting a blue little guy for my brother who likes Neos. THAT TANK HAD EVERYTHING IN IT. First I saw the Planaria squirming at the top, then the green hydra on the glass (and they were adult full grown hydra keep that in mind), then the shrimp had the fuzzy noses. If I was experienced enough to know any other problems I probably could've found it there I swear. I brought this up and he goes, "yeah I had a problem with Planaria I hadn't noticed the hydra though". He never noticed the full grown hydra in this unplanted, undecorated breeding tank, covering the sides. Not to mention he was perfectly fine with selling infected shrimp to unknowing customers who wont know any better. My old tank died because of this guy and I had no proof before now. I'm just angry. I named all of those RCS, and I had to watch them die slowly and fish their bloated bodies out each day. Big Mama was the first shrimp I ever owned, she was berried and managed to hold on to her babies the whole time. Her children were born and killed by hydra. I don't even think I could save them given all the money in the world, what kills everything but shrimp, a PP bath before putting them in the tank maybe. I'm just angry. [link] [comments] | ||
