Chalice Id? Why does it swell up and pop?

Posted: 20 Sep 2020 05:07 PM PDT

I am in college and living in an off campus apartment. I always assumed a reef tank was simply not feasible. Am I correct?

Posted: 21 Sep 2020 12:00 AM PDT

I always just assumed I will have to wait until I am more secure in my life before I start a reef. However I keep having conversations with some LPS workers and a couple friends in the hobby and they for some reason don't seem as adamantly apposed to my circumstance as I do. Any thoughts?

Also I have enough money to start a 30 or so gallon reef at the moment, despite being a college student. So that's not the main concern lol.

Medicating DT

Posted: 20 Sep 2020 11:43 PM PDT

Recently, I noticed a couple white dots on my kole tang's fins. I think it's ich, but all the fish are acting fine at the moment. I don't want it to get worse, so I plan on treating it, but the problem is that there is no way I could get the fish out of the tank and into quarantine without completely tearing up the rock work, which I would really like to avoid. Even if I could, my quarantine tank currently isn't big enough to hold all of them in, especially since I have a foxface and flame angel already in it. I'm thinking about medicating the whole DT (without any invertebrates). Should I medicate with copper? How would I get the correct dosage with it leeching into the rock? Or are there other effective medications/methods that I could use? I know the best way would probably be to get the fish out of the tank and leave it empty for 6 weeks or so, while treating the fish in a separate tank, but I'd really like to avoid tearing up the tank. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do? My plan was to medicate the tank with copper and then use triton detox to get rid of the remaining copper in the tank before putting in any invertebrates. Any help would be appreciated!
