White spots started appearing in my jar, is this mold? How do I get rid of it? I don't have any animals or insects in it (for as far as I know)

I read somewhere that snails will move out of the water if there isn’t enough food or oxygen - is this true? Should I remove some of the flora perhaps? (Unsealed 1 gallon jug).
