- I have this nice mason jar, but I don't know how to make a jarrarium!! I would really like to get some advice on how (I've read articles but I don't get what they mean :( )
- Bubbling only at peak sunlight hours
- Captured some moments of pearling in my jar ecosphere tank with abit of bonus at the end :^)
- A tubifex dance party for your enjoyment
- I haven't seen anyone with flower plants in a jar. Is there any particular reason?
- Brackish jar - Bubbles from the substrate?
- Second jarrarium , too crowded?
- I want to make a closed jarrarium for my basement, but I have little to no natural windowlight. What do I need?
- Five hours of sweet action
- My Roley Polis/isopods had a bunch of baby’s it was hard to get a picture with them together but I got one
- Do cherry shrimp eat their offspring?

| Bubbling only at peak sunlight hours Posted: 13 Sep 2020 07:02 AM PDT Three days ago I set up a small glass vase with some potting soil topped with a bit of gravel and planted Juncus repens and Hydrocotyle leucocephala. It is sitting on my window sill which gets strong sunlight in the afternoon. I notice some bubbling during the peak sunlight hours and (I'm guessing) it comes from the substrate. Some are fine bubbles that trickle to the surface in a steady column, others are bigger faster ones from random spots. Any idea why this doesn't happen all the time? [link] [comments] | ||

| Brackish jar - Bubbles from the substrate? Posted: 12 Sep 2020 11:17 PM PDT Hello all! I started a natural brackish water jar from the canal by my house. Added a few water plants common in the canal. Started on 8/28. There were tons of little things at first - water mites, hydra, worms, a few snails, etc.. At this point basically all visible animal life has ceased. The plants for the most part look great so far except for the "coon tail" - that has mostly withered. There's definitely some pearling off the plants and also off some green algae near the water line. The water looks really clear, but my question is this: Over the past week I've seen more and more gas being released from the substrate - at far greater quantities than the pearling from the plants. Can anyone tell me what process might be producing this gas and what it might be? Thanks everyone! [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 12 Sep 2020 12:37 PM PDT I found the PDF guide, but not much else. What do i need to include? How can I make one? And how can I make sure the glass doesnt get foggy, moldy, or murky? [link] [comments] | ||

| Do cherry shrimp eat their offspring? Posted: 12 Sep 2020 03:28 PM PDT It's been almost a year and a half since I made a little mason jarrarium. I had two cherry shrimp in there, one male and one female. They apparently mated because the female was clearly pregnant and I eventually saw little miniature shrimp floating around, but they eventually disappeared not long after the mother also died off. The father died a bit later too. Was this an issue with the water, or nutrition? Or are cherry shrimp naturally cannibalistic? I also have a snail in there who seems to be much more durable and has been living happily for the last year or so. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
