Biological filtration. I don’t play around. 3 different types, 4 different surfaces for nitrifying bacteria. All on my planted 55 gallon.

How to set up Black Moore Goldfish?

Posted: 22 Sep 2020 11:23 PM PDT

Ok. New here. What exactly do I need to set up 2-3 Blackmoore goldfish? I was looking for a YouTube care video cuz I'm more of a visual learner but nothing appeared?

Need advice!

Posted: 22 Sep 2020 07:02 PM PDT

I have a couple of goldfish with the little telescope eyes, they're such sweeties and a little over a year old now.

They're in a 10 gallon tank and it's quite apparent they need a bigger tank. I'm looking for advice and pointers on the following: what is a good online source for everything fish tanks/supplies? How do I comfortably move them into a new tank and not risk upset/death? Pretty much anything else this newbie could use knowing before making this change.

Thank you!

Something seems to be dragging/sucking my fish to a side?

Posted: 22 Sep 2020 07:30 PM PDT

Hey so this is weird but I recently got goldfish. They dont have a filter but do have two small bubblers.

I placed both air pumps/bubblers on the far left and right sides of the tanks but a lot of fish seem to be hanging in the middle swimming in place. They seem to be dragged to the right side. Does anybody know why this many be happening?

Gold barbs and goldfish?

Posted: 22 Sep 2020 05:29 PM PDT

I buy water conditioners and other things at my local super market because its a lot cheaper, but while I'm there I like to browse the fish just out of curiosity. The last two times I've gone theres this single adult gold barb that looks so rough in the tanks. I'm wondering if it was a return or something because all the other gold barbs are in a different tank and are all babies but like I said this poor fish looks so bad, the last time I saw him he was getting chased by a pleco they had in the tank and it was trying to suck the slime off of him. If its not clear I really want to rescue this fish but I know gold barbs are schooling fish so I'm not really sure I could give the best environment for him. I'm currently setting up a planted 75 gallon to move my goldfish too. I'm pretty new to fish keeping I'm moving these fish out of a 20 gallon after learning thats way too small. There's three of them 10 and 8 years old but they're extremely stunted the biggest one is probably 4 1/2 inches the other two are probably 3 1/3 inches. I'd doubt that I could move a whole school of gold barbs in and not over stock just with how messy goldfish are.

So background out of the way, If I quarantined this gold barb until he looked strong enough and moved him in with three stunted common goldfish would that be okay? Or would this barb be to stressed without a school? I'm figuring its probably best to just leave him be and hope someone with a school of gold barbs picks him up but every time I see this barb I get so sad for him.

Tank info: I have a aquatop cf500 it filters up 170 gallons, its a normal 75 gallon size, its still cycling it seems like it'll be done cycling in a week or two. I know barbs prefer fast moving water, I have a powerhead that came with the set up (I bought it used) that I haven't installed because I don't think my commons really need one. The tank is unheated its been pretty consistently at 70 but I've only had it up for a month so not sure what the temp will be throughout the year as seasons change.

Tldr, theres a sick looking single adult gold barb in the super market I want to rescue but I don't have room for a school of barbs in my 75 gallon with three common goldfish and need someone to be brutally honest with me about what gold barbs need so I stop thinking about this barb randomly and getting sad.
