My tank finally cycled! So I just ordered these bebes from King Koi. I'm stoked and looking for name suggestions! I'm thinking probably Banshee for the ranchu, but can't think of anything I like for the oranda. Any ideas?

i do not know what is killing my fish.

So, on this hot summer, my fish have been constantly sick.

I have 2 areas where i have my fish (3 in total, one tank and 2 ponds), My room, and my terrace. I give them food and change 50% of the water one day of the week.

Recently i had 3 fish die of fin rot, gill rot, tail rot, and such. I have work to do so i dont have the whole day to watch over them, and i just wanted to say what the hell is killing my goldfish?

Here are all the details you should know :

- 3 tanks

- 1 big change of water per week

- i do not know since when i had changed of food.

- its hot where i live (very hot)

-pigeons visit my terrace (and drink the fish water)

if anyone can give me a why are my fish getting sick, please comment. Thank you for your time.

Parasite??

Posted: 07 Sep 2020 08:36 AM PDT

Hey everyone I've noticed some issues with my black comet, which is currently clamping it's fins and darting around the tank. He also stays around the surface but is still very willing to eat. There is nothing physically on him, no white spot or anything. Nothing wrong with his eyes and my water quality is fine (ammonia=0ppm, Nitrite=0ppm and nitrate=15ppm). I am wondering if this is an issue with a parasite? Please help me out here cause I'm insanely worried about him. He's still quite young and he has been around the top for a day or two, but I've only noticed clamping a couple hours ago. Thanks

My common goldfish passed away 2 days ago. Now something is wrong with my last remaining goldfish, please help!

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately the sick common goldfish that I had been posting about didn't make it. He passed away on Saturday at around 1:00 AM. The day prior to his passing I gave him a salt bath in natural sea salt. The salt seemed to revive him but the next morning his health quickly deteriorated and he died a few hours later. He was 9 years old and measured 10 inches. https://ibb.co/H7hRLPx

Well now my last remaining goldfish, the comet, is behaving alarmingly. Last night I noticed that he was swimming in a very distressed manner and that he was often going to the surface to take a few breaths. It was too late to do a water change, so I checked the water parameters and added some Prime before going to bed. I got 0 for Ammonia and Nitrite, and 20ppm for Nitrate. I figured that the Nitrate was stressing him so I did a 60% water change the next morning. The Nitrate went down to 10ppm after the water change but he is still behaving this way. Could it be that when my other goldfish died it released something toxic into the water? I waited 2 hours before removing him from the tank to make sure he was no longer breathing.

I'm really confused because the comet was behaving completely normal prior to my other goldfish passing. The only thing I can think of is that at the beginning of last week, I cleaned one of the filters which I hadn't cleaned in 6 months. In cleaning it most of the beneficial bacteria inside of it was lost, but I have two other filters running with lost of established bacteria. I don't think this is the cause because my Ammonia and Nitrate are both at 0.

I'm going to add another filter tomorrow to increase the oxygen inside the tank. I've also ordered some "Poly Filter" from the company BioMarine to remove anything toxic from the water incase there is something bad in there. Anyone have any suggestions on what else I should do? I would just be completely devastated if I lose this fish too.
