| what would be the best filter for a 40 gallon tank? Posted: 12 Sep 2020 06:11 PM PDT Planning on going up to a 40gal soon, but I'm having trouble deciding which filter would be the best overall. I saw some canister filters that seemed to be efficient but they're also very expensive. Any recommendations?? [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 12 Sep 2020 11:27 AM PDT So about 3 days ago I noticed the small spots of ICH which I posted about before on here. I've been treating him everyday now and keeping and eye on him and it's now progressed to a ton of spots all over his back fins and some across his body. I'm so upset because I don't want to lose him being my first fish and I've grown attached, I literally cried a bit thinking about if he died. Is it normal for it to expand and then for it to possibly go away because of treatment or are those ones that survived the treated water and are reattaching? I'm at a loss at what to do, my next step is putting him in a smaller tank for about 2 weeks and continue treatment there while completely clearing out and restarting the other tank but I'm worried he won't survive especially being back in a tank that is about 5 gallons it might stress him out not to mention the lack of a proper filter for a smaller tank. Should I just cut my losses and mourn him now while completely restarting my 36 gallon tank because I can't afford a whole lot of options or is this normal and he should survive? | Posted: 12 Sep 2020 08:56 AM PDT I've got a goldfish in my pond who developed a cyst recently, but all my other fish are doing good. It doesn't seem to be bothering him or anything as he is still swimming and eating normally. All the water parameters are normal for the tank as well. I've been treating the pond with melafix, which seems to have stopped the cyst from growing, or at least slowed it significantly, but its not going away. The cyst is still under the skin, but if it decides to poke through ill get him into a hospital tank. What id like to know is, what should I be treating him with if I do need to get him into a hospital tank? Edit: expanded on my final question. [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 12 Sep 2020 06:57 AM PDT My fantail has got mouth fungus growing for the first time, and it's being really stubborn. I used trisulfa (3 tablets every 3 days for 3 rounds), didn't work. I then used a fungus remedy (20mls, redose after 2 days). Didn't work. Tried the trisulfa again, still nothing. Pet store is baffled it hasn't worked. Would it be safe to use trisulfa and fungus cure at the same time? There is no carbon in the tank, hasn't been since starting treatment. Anyone have any tips on what to do about this stubborn fungus? Thanks greatly! Additional info: Tank is 20 gal/75 litres There is another fantail in with him, no symptoms Fungus is white stuff around only his mouth (cotton wool-ish) [link] [comments] |
