- Hey! Just got this hitchhiker from my water lettuce. What is this snail? Is it okay to have in my 5-gal tank with my betta? I already have 1 nerite snail and some smaller bladder snails I’m slowly getting rid off.

Posted: 10 Sep 2020 01:59 AM PDT I got a new white spotted rabbit about a week ago, he was super super active in the bag on the 2 hour drive home. Got home, acclimated him, placed him in and he has barely moved since. I know he's still alive, he is hanging out of his shell a little and will pull himself back in if something spooks him a bit. He moved one night to the other side of the tank but hasn't moved the day and a half since. I put a bottom feeder water before I went to work and he hasn't touched it. I have 3 other rabbits in this tank and they're all doing great and have been very active. I just checked my water and everything is normal. 300 GH, 180 KH, 7.5 PH. Anyways, just worried about the little guy and was wondering if there's anything I can do other than just waiting to see [link] [comments]

Please help--oyster shells don't give enough calcium Posted: 09 Sep 2020 07:24 AM PDT Hey. Vegan here but I have good friends. What do y'all recommend as a calcium supplement? Would crushed eggshells work? Cuttlefish bone? My poor babes are developing those pesky white streaks and I've finally found locals who would love some free jarrariums for my near-tipping population... But the snails should get some health first. How much should I use for a five gallon? I also have a bettafish in there so I don't want to overdo the hardness. I also have driftwood and tea leaves for added tannins which again, work against hardness and makes it acidic rather than basic (so stuff should quickly dissolve). My local water is first-contact, and therefore very soft. Also, they mainly graze algae and uneaten food from the betta (which is an insectivore). I only feed them a pleco wafer weekly because otherwise the betta will bloat himself on it. Edit: also I have plenty of spare pickle jars so they can get out of tannin-land but our water is still naturally soft. They are all small hermaphrodite ramshorns. [link] [comments]
