I just received a bunch of nerites in the mail today. Would it be safe to put them in my 55 gallon that I’m cycling? It has plants and fish flakes to speed things up that I’m guessing the snails can “eat”

They are teeny tiny, and I don't think I'll ever find them in my 20 gallon that has gravel substrate

My vegetable jelly recipe

Posted: 12 Sep 2020 01:26 PM PDT

Ok I'll start by listing the ingredients to the vegetable jelly

Ingredients~ Agar Dried kelp Eggplant Cucumber Zucchini Crookneck/yellow squash Patty pan squash Butternut squash Spaghetti squash Sweet dumpling squash Hubbard squash Pumpkin squash Red cabbage Green cabbage Swiss chard Bok choy Dandelion greens Turnip greens Beet greens Radish greens Red clover microgreens (you'll have to grow these but it's simple) Mustard greens Collard greens Cauliflower Brussel sprouts Turnip Beetroot Radish Okra Broccoli Sweet peas Unsalted green beans Unsalted wax beans (replace with duckweed if unable to find these) Boiled navy beans Carrot Sweet potato And water

Very first thing you do is grow your microgreens take a styrofoam egg carton and cut the top off and throw the egg holes away then poke some drainage holes into the bottom of your egg carton top and then put a thin layer of organic potting soil (I like to mix some compost from my worm bin with the potting soil for ideal growth but it's unnecessary) then plant the seeds keep in a sunny area in your house and water every day you harvest the plants when their very young hence the name microgreens

  1. Rehydrate your kelp and dandelion greens Take 1-2 pieces of dried kelp and about a pinch of the dandelion greens then soak them in a bowl of water overnight the next day when hydrated rinse them in some water to wash them then boil your navy beans till soft

  2. Prepare and blend your veggies Chop up all your veggies and put your rehydrated kelp and dandelion greens into a blender first then add 2-4 slices/pieces of your larger veggies like pumpkin and brussel sprouts and 6-8 slices/pieces of your smaller veggies like the navy beans and okra and blend them all together with just enough water to make them watery (it won't work if it's not watery)

  3. Finish up Grab a large bowl and put 1/3 cup of agar into the bowl then add your blended veggies to the bowl and mix until you don't see anymore powder then cook in the microwave for 2 minutes and then stir for 5 minutes straight then pour the jelly mixture into an ice tray or mold and refrigerate for 3 hours after it's solidified cut the jelly out and it's done and ready to be fed to your snails

Things I have to say about the recipe~ Vegetable jelly is highly nutritious on the plants side of the diet a omnivorous snail like mystery snails but is a great staple food for complete herbivores like nerite snails my nerites love this stuff all my snails do it's also extremely high in natural calcium and it's just a great food to have on hand for your snails!

Assassin snail babies?

Posted: 12 Sep 2020 10:02 AM PDT

I plan on getting rid of some Japanese trap door snail babies eventually. When will they be big/old enough I can safely transport to a friend’s tank?

Help me identify this snail? On the other side of it’s shell, it’s completely open, and isn’t rounded.
