Will the shine of metallic Koi fade over time?

I really like the metallic colors of koi, but will they lose the shine & sparkle over time? I know colors & patterns can change, so I wondered about the shine as well.

Hi everyone, quick question. How cold can koi survive in winter?

Considering building an outdoor pond for koi. Our climate gets very very cold in winter -30 and max -40 here in Canada.

Help tracking down info about a former champion koi

So in my elementary school days I was a weird totally normal kid who was obsessed with koi. I remember seeing a photo in a koi magazine of an All Japan koi show champion that was solid dark blue with a tancho spot - something like a dark tancho goshiki, but distinctly mostly blue with no white. I'm trying to find out who this koi was, who bred it, was it a named breed, was it all a figment of my imagination? This would have been in the late 1990s, and I can't find photos of All Japan winners before 2005 or so online. I'm hoping someone here will have a recollection of this fish or would know if a koi variety of this description even exists!
