I can’t get over these shrimps climbing up here and hanging out partially out of the water. They even leave and return later.

Never had shrimp - some beginner questions

Posted: 04 Aug 2020 09:34 PM PDT

Hey r/shrimptank!

Sorry if there's an info section on this already, I had a glance and didn't spot one specifically.

I have fish tanks and know about cycling etc, however I have just picked up a couple of smaller tanks and was hoping to set them up as planted shrimp tanks.

I'd like to know what shrimp would be good for a beginner. I'd ideally like the blues and the reds which are translucent, rather than a solid colour (they would be in separate tanks from each other), but I don't know what these would be called or if they are beginner appropriate.

I've only really kept bettas and a smallish community tank, so I'd love any advice you guys would be willing to throw at me. (Really, anything a beginner should know, whether it be feeding, parameters, what to avoid, the whole lot!)

Thanks in advance!!

What are the bright green yellow things high inside these blue jelly shrimp? Eggs that haven't descended yet? They appear spherical when zooming in, but not in the low area where I see eggs carried.
