Thinking about starting a shrimp tank

Posted: 04 Aug 2020 01:01 AM PDT

I have a cylindrical 3.5 gal planted tank and just lost my betta who was the main inhabitant of the tank. I have a single Amano (but could possibly be a ghost but I'm pretty sure) and that's it right now. What kinds of shrimp (and how many) do you think would be good to start my first shrimp tank. I'm also thinking about trying to breed so I can move some over to my 20 gal that I plan on setting up when I move in Dec.

I love my shrimp, but boy do the remnants of their molts creep me out.

What’s up with this amano?? He’s way darker than any of my other amanos, and they all came from the same batch. They are significantly larger than most of my other amano shrimps—-perhaps the dark coloring came with age? Or is it some other type of shrimp

Is my Tiger ok?

Is my Tiger ok?

One of my new tiger shrimp looks a little white. Is this an infection/muscular necrosis or am I being paranoid? Shes acting normal and grazing for food normally otherwise. I drip introduced them and my params are:

PH: 6.5

GH:5

KH:1

Nitrites/Nitrates:0

Is there anything I can do if she is sick or is it curtains once they get sick?

Confident girl posing in her new home. Day 3 of these guys in the tank and no losses that I’ve seen so far.

Possibly the most cinematic shot of a shrimp so far
