Finally got my fancy goldfish, they look so cool!

I finally figured out how to set up a rubbermade pond I don’t hate. I built and stained this frame myself, and I am NOT handy!

When do I know to euthanise my goldfish ? ( swim bladder disorder for a week )

Posted: 23 Aug 2020 05:45 PM PDT

My goldfish has been lying on the floor of the tank on its right side for a bout a week and a half. It's energetic and is functioning fine other then it's swim bladder issues ( although it isn't bloated ). I feed it peas that float down to the bottom. I've tried Epsom salts, peas, water changes and even bacterial medication and nothing seems to be working. When do I decide it's time to euthanise it? Is it suffering at the bottom of the tank ? Edit: I've occasionally seen it flutter or shiver really rapidly for half a second, is this indicative of anything? Also to clarify, by energetic I mean it will move rapidly occasionally but it's usually dormant

Advice for evacuating with goldfish?

Posted: 23 Aug 2020 02:49 PM PDT

I live in California and we lately, a lot of Californians have been forced to evacuate their homes because of either fires or terrible air quality.

We have five goldfish, and we're worried about what we will do with them if we are forced to evacuate for up to 2 weeks.

Should we get an automatic feeder? Or just bring them with us?

Newbie has question about buying fish

Posted: 23 Aug 2020 04:45 PM PDT

I'm getting ready to order a couple of fish from King Koi within the next week or so (my tank is getting close to the end of it's cycling). I have two in mind, but am wondering: should I worry about their sex? They don't state the sex of their fish anywhere in the listings, so I'm wondering if they just don't sex them and leave it up to you?

I'd rather not have them making babies, so I'd prefer two of the same sex. I tried to contact them asking about one of the fish but never received a reply. I'm having a hard time finding info about this and wondering if it is normal to not know the sex of the fish you buy, particularly from a website like this?

Disappearing fry?

Posted: 23 Aug 2020 07:44 PM PDT

So earlier this week, I found some unexpected fry. I don't know when it happened, I just noticed one swimming around one day. I was able to set up a breeding net and I only found/caught three fry in total around two days ago. Today, I was going to do a water change. When I went to relocate them so I can do so, I could only find one fry. I couldn't find the other two and there were no corpses or holes in the mesh. Has anyone else had a similar issue of disappearing fry? Is it possible for fry to eat one another?

Shubunkin in Distress

Help! Upgraded her to a 45 gallon & having problems :-(

Posted: 23 Aug 2020 12:23 PM PDT

Can anyone tell whether this is a fancy or common type goldfish? I'd like to give it a home if it's still available after my tank has cycled and try to fix it's swim bladder problem but don't want it to outgrow my set up (reposting because previous one didn't work)

I need to know if they're okay

I need to know if they're okay

So my sisters friend did not want these goldfish anymore, they wanted to flush them through the toilet. when I got them they were in a dirty tank that had not been cleaned for half a year. so I took them in. They do however have some scales that look different from the others. Is this normal or do they have a kind of decease?

Does anyone know where you can find Bristol Shubunkin in the Toronto area?

Posted: 23 Aug 2020 07:34 AM PDT

Of all the places in Canada, I would bet that somewhere in Toronto likely sells Bristol Shubunkin goldfish. However, I don't know where. If anyone has any useful information whatsoever, it would be appreciated. Thank you.
