Hi everyone! My juvenile Axolotl somehow managed to jump out of her dish! We’re two very stressed parents looking for some advice! We’ve managed to get her back in there now but as you can see her tail is damaged! Any advice :(

Hot Axolotl!

Posted: 20 Aug 2020 09:34 AM PDT

The dog days of summer are starting in my location and I'm struggling with keeping my tank at a lower temperature. I've tried putting ice in a glass bottle, freezing water solid in a glass bottle, and running a fan in the room. I never turn the lights on and my window is always closed and the blinds are closed as well. Her water is still at around 71 degrees which scares the crap out of me! I've wanted to try the fan method, but the fans that I have are dirty box fans. I also don't know if the vibrations would bother her or not... Does anyone have any recommendations that I haven't tried yet or a fan model I could get that doesn't bother axolotls?? Thank you!!

Anyone got advice for cleaning this? The filter in my axies tank causes lots of bubbles which over time get this grime on the rim of the aquarium and I just can't get it off :/

Little update on the sick little guy from Craigslist! His color is much better, though he's not eating very well. He's still active, I'm going to try getting some different pellets and see if that helps. I've got him in a 2 gal. quarantine tank right now with a ball of java moss, tea leaf, and an air stone.

He seems to be improving, I'm starting to wonder if he has fungus at all, or if it's possible one of his past tank mates may have bitten his gills? I attached a few pictures, what do you think? They're short on one side, the other looks reasonably healthy.

Floating plant advice

Posted: 20 Aug 2020 12:04 AM PDT

Hello everyone,

I've been looking at websites and articles for a week now and I'm just getting frustrated. I want to give Quinn some lovely floating plants. I live in Texas so many of the ones (duckweed, water lettuce, frogbit) are illegal to have here. Please, if anyone has any other options I would love to know!

Thanks for any suggestions<3
