This is an auto-post for the weekly question thread.

Here you can ask questions for which you don't want to make a separate thread and it also aggregates the questions, so others can learn.

Please check/read the wiki before posting.

If you want to chat with people to ask questions, there is also the IRC chat for you to ask questions and get answers in real time! If you need help with it, you can always check the IRC wiki page.

Quick flex of an older tank I had. It is now happily at my father’s place! The move was rough but everything seems to be happy a week later. 7 year old tank with mostly some bubble tip nems and a sizable brain upfront (size of both palms of my hands)

Tore the tank apart looking for our usually very active bristlenose pleco, whom we hadn’t seen in weeks. ... For good reason apparently!

So happy to share with you guys my wife and I’s first ever aquarium! Went all out with the shrimp/live plant tank and were fortunate enough to receive a pregnant shrimp!

OPINIONS NEEDED: A Subreddit just for sick fish?

Posted: 03 Aug 2020 06:55 AM PDT

Hi everyone! Hope your week is off to a good start. I'll cut to the chase. I see a lot of people looking for help, and a lot of people giving it out on here. Giving other people advice when their fish are sick is just something I really love to do, but I know there's also been conversations of people not getting the proper help or their post being lost in the flow of all the others. This happened to me as well.

So I thought to myself, what if there was a new subreddit that was just for people looking for help when their fish is sick or injured? I thought of a few names, such as "fishSOS", "helpmyfish", "fishhelp", "fish hospital" etc. Name suggestions are encouraged!

Anyway, what do you all think of the idea? I already mod r/rescuefish so I wasn't certain on having a second community if people weren't that interested.

Just watched this guy tip over then suck a pond snail right out of the shell. Is this normal SAE behaviour?

I was expecting failure, but every tropical riparian plant I've tried has flourished in lava-rock filled HOB filters - happy with both the look and the nitrate levels.

My first attempt at a planted tank! I’m quite happy with it, but does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep soil and sand separated a little better?
