For corals, is each mouth it’s own “animal”? Posted: 04 Jul 2020 06:07 PM PDT So, I know corals are animals, not plants. But unlike fish, where it's obvious how many you have, I'm curious about corals. Is each mouth a good way to count how many individual animals there are? So my hammer is actually three separate animals, and my zoa colonies are actually like 30-40 separate animals? Further, would that mean something like my Stylophora SPS is really like 100 + animals? I'm sure the answer has some biological nuance of what constitutes a separate system, the details of which I'd love to hear as well! [link] [comments] | ||

Is my green bubble tip anemone in trouble? Posted: 04 Jul 2020 08:46 PM PDT We got a new green bubble tip anemone 1 day ago. He is hiding in a cave upside down and attached to the ceiling rock. he has closed himself up with very few tentacles sticking out, when a light is shined on him (flashlight) he responds by sticking some tendrils out. Should we be worried? [link] [comments] |
