Starting a Jarrarium - but worried about mosquitoes

Hi! I'm thinking of starting a new Jarrarium with stuff from a nearby stream but I live in E Asia so slightly worried about getting mosquitoes growing - how can I prevent that from happening? I though about sealing off the jar but I assume some level of oxygen recycling is needed?
