Newbie Question on Water treatment Posted: 23 Jul 2020 12:00 PM PDT Got child a blue crayfish on New Years day this year. She loves her Blue! Blue lives in a 20 gallon tank with filter, bubbler, and by themself. Gets fed once a day. Started with the sinking waters, got the Crab Cusine and I alternate between the two. Blue molted 2-3 times in the first two months we had him. Doesn't appear to have since then. Here's the dumb question: I vacuum the four corners of the tank once a week, resulting in me replacing maybe 3-4 gallons of water a week. If the water treatment chemical says 10 ml for 10 gallons, do I add 20 ml for a 20 gallon tank or just enough to cover the 3-5 gallons I've replaced? [link] [comments] | ||
Posted: 23 Jul 2020 02:17 AM PDT Hi all! Unfortunately, I need to euthanize a couple of crayfish for research purposes (I am a biology student). With regards to the method, I was thinking of freezing them (putting them in a freezer in a container full of water). Does anyone have any insight on whether it is effective in killing them, or does it just induce torpor? And do the crayfish suffer in the process? If anyone knows of any better, humane methods, please do let me know. [link] [comments] |
