After a couple of months of Springs battling illness and every medication under the sun, she has perked up and eats regularly again and does her little shimmy when she sees me! I very nearly put her to sleep but I'm so glad I didnt!
Update: he loves his log already!
I'm pleased to introduce my new betta, Takashi.
Looks like Raddish wants a gf too :/
My boyfriend says he doesn't understand why I love my fish so much but he supports me anyway and surprised me with a custom necklace based off of my Rusty!
Is the light blue on the tips of his fins new fin growth?? His fins used to be 100% red - is this just his Glow-up from being out of that cup?

I'm on vacation and have a friend who checks on my fish while I'm away. I got a text this morning telling me my fish jumped out of the tank and died. I feel awful as this fish is what I got after getting out of the hospital to keep me company. I gave him the best life I could. I will miss him very much.

Fin rot?

My fish isn't actually my fish, it's my mom's 'class pet' that she hadn't actually been taking care of.

He was kept in a tiny vase with no heater, filter, or live plants.

A couple of months ago my boyfriend and i went out and got him a 4 gallon tank and a filter, a heater, and a bunch of new gear.

I know he should have a five gallon but as it is my mom kicked up a big fuss about it and the tank I have now is the biggest possible tank I could get for him without her having me return it so it's the best I could do.

To make up for the size, I have live plants in there I do a partial water change every two days and clean out the filter and stuff, plus I have live plants (a marimo moss ball and an amazon sword if that makes a difference).

Despite my efforts, what I've been assuming to be mild fin rot on his tail(?) from his previous living situation hasn't gotten better and looks like its been getting worse.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, aside from my tank size, and I wanted to know if anyone here had suggestions for how I can help my little guy.

If it is the tank size that is the problem, maybe I could show my mom the post and try to convince her to let me get a bigger one? I don't know but if I have to I'll figure something out for the fish
