Tips for axolotl weight gain?

Posted: 21 Jul 2020 07:39 AM PDT

I've had Mordecai for 2.5 years, she eats 3x - 4x times a week, any more than that she gets floaty/backed up (she's weird). I've tried earthworms, night crawlers, and blood worm cubes, but she's always been a little slim. Not like super underweight, just slightly smaller than the target weight. She has long healthy gills (they're red and bushy, beautiful!!) no curling and she's very healthy, but she just can't seem to gain weight! Tips?

This is a photo of an axolotl I may be getting within the next week, I am very new to axolotl’s and signs of them being unhealthy, I am wondering if the black in her gills are okay? Does anyone know if that means she is unhealthy?

Someone asked for my levels last night. I believe I have 5ppm of nitrates on day 2 of my cycle.

Help. Cloudy tank.

Posted: 20 Jul 2020 10:31 PM PDT

Y'all I am literally at my WITS END with this. It's just always something it feels like right now. I'm doing a tank change every week because my nitrates jump up super quickly and once every couple weeks I get super cloudy water that's almost impossible to see through. Right now I have a super cloudy tank and it could totally be a bacterial bloom but I've been doing 20% water changes and it's just getting worse.

Today I added Clarity and Pristine to my tank and still nothing. I have an extra filter on it right now to help clean the tank up and still nothing.

I am so so so frustrated. This keeps happening, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing wrong. My water parameters are perfect. I have two fans running, my tank is at 66F. I'm just frustrated and overwhelmed and wondering if anyone had any suggestions for how to clear this up or what I should do. I could literally cry right now.

I'm sure my axie is so stressed out with all the water changes and tank changes, his gills are bright pink. I'm stressed out and I'm not even LIVING in it.

Parameters: Nitrates: 10PPM Nitrites: 0PPM Ammonia: 0PPM PH: Fluctuates between 6.8 and 7.2 Temp: 66 degrees F

Baby Axolotl haven't pooped

Posted: 20 Jul 2020 07:24 PM PDT

i wanted to ask about my baby Axolotl it's around 7 or 8cm and he/she usually eat frozen blood worm but i thought it's too much mess so switch to earthworm, i tried to cut it really small and he/she eat it like a champ but i noticed he/she haven't pooped yet after 2 days and looked like there's a slightly bump on the left stomach.

There's no sign as bloated, floating or any kind of stress and still eat if I'm offering frozen blood worms. Is it normal if they eat earthworm and not popping on the next day?

Is my baby axolotl sick?

Posted: 20 Jul 2020 09:04 PM PDT

Hey yall. I have a baby (3 inches) axolotl who is usually not this pink around the gills. Also, I came gome from work and she was throwing up all over the tank. I think I may have fed her a few too many worms yesterday, but I didn't think it was too crazy. I am so scared and I can't stop crying. I put her in a quarantine dish away from the other baby, and she keeps doing this gagging thing. Please help. Ill try to post a video of her gagging. Also, I have their tank at a reasonable temp (around 60F), I feed them blood worms, and do a water change every so often (1 to 2x a week).

Thank you so much.

edit: here's a photo of her nowsick baby?
