Got these little buddies one year ago today. I never realize how much they’ve grown until I look back at pictures.

Arnold turns 2 in September! He’s such a good boy. I think it’s funny how his mouth is shaped, he always looks disgruntled lol.

Koz my bottomless pit of an axolotl. This is 3 weeks between photos and he’s my first axolotl. My family loves him to death and he loves when we talk to him. His gills are like a lions mane now!

Can axolotls scar ?

Posted: 28 Jul 2020 09:37 AM PDT

I have a wild axolotl with little white scar like marks . I got her when she was about 3-4 inches long and she was COVERED in these marks and had hardly any gills. It's not a fungus . It doesn't go away and it never moves . Is it maybe just her colour or what . It's very odd .

I made a mistake with my clutch of eggs .....

Posted: 28 Jul 2020 09:28 AM PDT

Got a small clutch of about a hundred from my albino something (I don't know if it's albino or a light golden) and a melanoid . All eggs were albino and looked good . Accidentally left my window open while out of the house one day and the room I had the eggs in was about 90-95 degrees ..... ended up I guess cooking most of the clutch and out of the 100 or so eggs , only 2 developed .....

Filter Recommendations

Posted: 28 Jul 2020 06:33 AM PDT

Hello I've had my axolotl for a few months now and I've noticed his gills have not gone back. They have been slightly bent forward since I got him and I believe my filter isn't helping the issue. I have a 20g long tank with a blank bottom. Can anyone help me select a filter setup? I've heard good things about sponge filters but I don't know what kind of pump to get or really even how they work. Thank you for your time my onyx really appreciates it!

Is there a place near Conroe TX to buy?

Posted: 27 Jul 2020 10:11 PM PDT

I want to pick up an axolotl but can't seem to find any places that sell them near me (3 hours tops). Do any of you know a place I might possibly find a store that sells them?

White Cloud Minnows/ Ghost Shrimp

Posted: 27 Jul 2020 09:53 PM PDT

I am buying two axolotls that are ~4-5 inches in size. However I might only get one since I can't identify their gender yet and I don't want them to mate. If I were to get one, would it be big enough to live with white cloud minnows or ghost shrimp or is it still too small?

Axolotl pellets

So my axolotl is a picky eater and does really like worms, so I need some medium sized pellets, any recommend companies or brands

how much will a sponge filter drop the temperature in a tank?

i successfully completed a in-fish-cycle!

Posted: 27 Jul 2020 06:41 PM PDT

fist off i want to say that my axolotl is perfectly fine and healthy and has no signs of ammonia burn or anything and is completely healthy. when i first got my axolotl i didn't know i had to cycle the tank, i found out a day after he was already in the tank, i started to freak out a lot. i could not tub him due to my house being extremely small, little kids, dogs. didnt want him getting knocked around or worse killed. so i keep him in the tank. i got him July 10th and tested the water soon after and everything was 0. i did about a 50-75% water change weekly and whenever i saw him in any type of stress at all i dosed the water with Prime (makes things not toxic for up to 48 hours). i never tested the water until today in fear of giving me anxiety and i tested it today and the only problem is that nitrates are a little high but it was my water change day. i'm extremely happy a fish-in-cycle worked for me, i probably wasn't the smartest with it but i'm just glad that my animal is healthy and happy in a cycled tank!
