Random New Snails

Posted: 01 Jul 2020 12:04 AM PDT

Soooo.... I fucked up. I didn't quarantine my plant from pet smart for the few weeks because it was in a tank with no fish in it at the store. I now have at least three baby snails and I have no idea how many more, or what type. I already have two nitrite snails and a betta in a 5 gallon heated, filtered tank. How do I take care of them? I have enough algae for the two nitrite but I'm not sure if babies need a specific diet. Too many things more complicated I also have snail eggs from the other snails but since my tank is fresh I don't think they will hatch. I'm so stressed about my babies and the new babies now

Advice for Assassin Snails

Posted: 30 Jun 2020 02:16 PM PDT

So I have a crap ton of pond snails, I was planning on getting the anyways because I wanted an assassin snail and now here I am with a huge amount of them in my tank for my assassin snail to eat. I don't have any assassin snails. I have a 13 gallon tank partially big gravel and partial sand. I have livebearers mostly in the tank and 5 ghost shrimp. Any advice on keeping these wonderful snails?

Mystery snail out of water

Posted: 30 Jun 2020 01:54 PM PDT

One of my mystery snails went missing a few days ago. This morning I heard my cat playing with something on the ground, turns out to be the snail. I put it into some water and now hes moving, but all curled up and doesnt look to good. Anyone else have this happen? He must have crawled out. Will he live?

A question about my tank

Posted: 30 Jun 2020 07:28 AM PDT

My sister's mystery snail had a bunch of little snails recently. I took in about 30 hoping to give them a bigger home. They were doing fine for a while. I feed them algae pellets and cucumbers. Normally I find them all over the front of the tank and on the cucumbers at the top.

Two days ago I had to change the water in the tank. They have no filter and I could barely see into the back of the tank. I gave them new water and my mother told me to put in this Tetra Easy Balance stuff. I have no way to test the ph of the water.

I have two snails still living in the old water because I'm giving them away. They are thriving. This morning I woke up to all of the snails except three dead in my big tank. The two in the old water are still doing great.

I guess I am just trying to figure out what to do better next time. The snails were little and I'd like to get a big one. Some of the shells I saw this morning were partly clear and I'm worried the issue was I made the water too basic.
