Help! Hole in mystery snail foot?

I had noticed some inactivity in my (normally very active) mystery snail over the last 24 hours or so and chalked it up to the water temperature being too high as my apartment doesn't have AC and we're experiencing 100-degree weather currently. As I did a partial water change in my aquarium with cooler water to bring down the temperature I noticed my snail started to move off the piece of coral it had been on for the last day and was headed for the tank wall so I figured it must have just been a temperature issue. Once the snail got to the aquarium wall though, I noticed a decent-sized hole in its foot. From the right angle, you can even see a part of the trapdoor behind its foot through the hole. I have never seen anything like this happen with any past snails of mine nor can I find any information about this. I would love to know if anyone has had similar experiences or has any information regarding this issue!

Currently, I have moved the snail to a separate 2.5 gal. tank (it normally lives in a 20 gal. tank with a goldfish) with fresh water and some algae wafers in hopes of providing it a less stressful environment to (hopefully) heal. It is sitting partially out of its shell with its trap door open and is showing signs of movement but is making no attempt at traveling elsewhere in the tank.

I have more reference photos if additional images would be of help.

How do i make sure my snail is eating?

Posted: 29 Jul 2020 05:49 PM PDT

I dont have much experience at all owning snails. The very first snails I had were a couple of rabbit snails, but they both died, no idea why.

I've got a 10g now and I bought a mystery snail to go in there.

I've got a cuttle bone floating around for calcium, but as far as food food goes for the snail, I plain to make some snail jello but fir now am just using sinking pellets along with regular fish food.

My snail just hangs out behind the filter for the most part, and I've not seen him off the glass since I first brought him home a couple of days ago.

How do i make sure he's eating and staying healthy?

Just noticed this clutch...any way to tell if it’s viable?

I've added tried adding ramshorns to my betta tank many times and they always die at the bottom, but the ones that stay near the surface are doing fine. Parameters are perfectly fine and I have, besides the betta, another 7 pygmy corys in there. What is killing my ramshorns?

Pomacea bridgessi plant eating

Posted: 29 Jul 2020 11:34 AM PDT

Im planning on making an "ecosphere" I dont mind opening it to put food or landscape things but I wanted it to be closef and have a real oxygen cycle based on planta and algae. I have done it plenty of times and had no problem with cherry shrimps, blader snails, etc being sealed airtight for months so I know how to make it work.

Im concerned about Pomacea snails cause they eat plants and it might get the tank to run out of oxygen.

If I feed them spinach or broccoli will they still eat the plants?? And if they do so is it so fast that it will kill it?? Im planning on putting just 1 or 2 of them in it

Bladder snails

Posted: 29 Jul 2020 08:47 AM PDT

I've been overrun with bladder snails. I don't mind them all that much but they're breeding like crazy. I have dozens and dozens and the eggs are on everything.

Aside from assassins, because I have nerites too, is there something I can put in here that will eat the egg sacs?

I have neon tetras, shrimp, albino corys, and nerites.

Any suggestions that won't kill everybody else?
