Got three new baby snails today!! This was while acclimating them to my tank. I got a blue, a purple and a free Chesnut/wild? The purple is the size of a dime!!! So tiny and cute! All were active and ate immediately after coming out of there shells. The blue was the most shy out of the three.

Shipping Malaysian trumpet snails in the summer?

Posted: 10 Jul 2020 07:39 PM PDT

I have too many Malaysian trumpet snails, and I'm hoping to start shipping them. However, it's getting very hot around where I live, and I'm worried the snails might die if I ship them in this heat.

Any advice on what I can do to safely ship some Malaysian trumpet snails and keep them cool? I'm hoping to ship through USPS, so I can't use anything prohibited by them. Or any other advice on shipping aquatics (specifically, snails) would be highly appreciated as I have never done so before. Thanks in advance!

Nerite Snails reproducing in freshwater setup?

Posted: 10 Jul 2020 08:56 AM PDT

I have a setup in a large 5 gallon glass container which has had 3 large nerite snails for about 3 months now. My original plan was to have it well established with the snails ahead of adding a couple shrimp to the tank. The shrimp were set to arrive yesterday so on Wednesday I did a quick water change and noticed a bunch of freshly hatched snails.

My understanding was that nerites will mate and lay eggs in fresh water but they require brackish water for the eggs to hatch. I'm concerned about overpopulation affecting my shrimp now that there's a bunch of baby snails running around. Anyone have advice?

Found what looks like 2 types of snail in my tank. Snails with flat side. Are they still pond snails?
