Posted: 05 Jul 2020 12:28 PM PDT I've been battling a fly larvae infestation for a few years now. These are 1/4" thin black wriggly worms that keep plugging up my plumbing, which must be cleaned weekly. By now I'm fairly certain they're drain fly larvae. All the eradication methods mentioned online will also kill my fishes. Wondering if anyone here has experience with this. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Jul 2020 10:44 AM PDT One of my biggest kois fin turned red a week ago and was a little confused. Had a closer look today and it has something growing on the fin now. What should I do if it is fin rot. It also has a hole on one of its gills. I'm scared ive been losing fish. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Jul 2020 09:04 AM PDT One of my sweet pond puppies just ate one of those small snapper fireworks. I think some people call them bang pops. My daughter and I were out throwing some near the pond and one ricocheted into the water (unpopped). I jumped up to get it, but as I reached the water, one of the koi swam right up and swallowed it. He then swam under a little cover they have so I couldn't see him. A few minutes has passed and now I see the wrapper at the bottom of the pond. I looked online and found that silver fulminate is toxic in large amounts, but I can't find much else. Has anyone else dealt with this? Should I be concerned? [link] [comments]
Question about feeding Koi and Sturgeon Posted: 05 Jul 2020 08:53 AM PDT Hello everyone, During Covid 19, my landlords (who live on the same property) are staying put at their other house overseas. As a result, it's been left to me to care for their three koi and three sturgeon who live in a medium-sized outdoor pond. The gardener has given me koi pellets and sturgeon pellets (which sink). My question is this: How often do I feed the fish and how much? I've read that kois eat more in the summer, so I feed them about three times a week. I'm wondering if I should feed the sturgeon three times a week as well? Each time I feed the sturgeon and the koi, I give them a handful of food. I am not in touch with my landlords, so can't ask them. Thanks in advance for your help! [link] [comments] |
