- Did these quick watercolour goldfish while I was talking on the phone. Still learning but I like the calico one
- did some aquascaping today, this is going to be the main focus n then i’ll add some filler stuff for the side of the tank. i removed the gravel too cuz goldies+gravel=choking. i can’t get the itty bitty pieces of sand on the bottom n it’s irritating aha —featuring the lovely clementine
- I have noticed Quite a few people are asking about filtration. I build my own filtration from planter boxes they hold a lot of media, water quality is very good. This on is on a 100 gallon aquarium and turns the water 850 gallons per hour on the highest setting, cost me $ 45 to make.
- Ready to be clear glazed!
- Red and white ryukin 3 months ago vs today. Anyone else experienced a huge color change/loss in their fish? Any tips to get it back? I loved how orange he used to be.
- Two goldies are prepped and ready for an upgrade:)
- Should I worry about those white things?
- Red spots on goldfish--parasite? Help please!

- Is this Ick?
- Rehoming Goldfish?

- Can i grow duckweed in my goldfish tank or no? Thanks
- Just wondering about water parameters

- How to feed goldfish? I just have this type of food. Should I add something or change it? By the way i feed my 2 little goldfishes once a day with three pieces of this food by crunching them between my thumb and index finger.

Red spots on goldfish--parasite? Help please! Posted: 26 Jun 2020 07:30 PM PDT Hi all, hoping someone here can help me out with identifying (and possibly intervening on?) these red spots on my goldfish. I've had the fish approximately 10 months and shortly after getting him noticed a red spot below his mouth and later a couple more on his body. Ive been watching them over the last months but haven't done anything since they appear grossly stable in size and the fish is very active and eating well. I asked the generally knowledgeable employee at my local pet store and he suggested possibly a parasite or a tumor. He suggested continued observation or adding some aquarium salt if I was particularly concerned. Recently I noticed a much larger lesion on the tail fin, close to the tail base, as well as some reddening of the pectoral fin. Its possible I just missed it before since its kinda hard to see but it could also be new. I'm hoping somebody could shed some light on what these marks are and what if anything I can do about them. Water quality is good now but was pretty rough for the first month or so and required every other day changes as I (accidentally) cycled the tank with the fish in it. I recently added aquarium salt at 2 tsp per gallon. Its been in about a week with no noticeable change in the spots. I also removed some plastic plants that may have been irritating the fish. Fish's appetite is ravenous as always and he is usually pretty active and swimming around. I dont want to add medications unless i can confirm they would be beneficial, would appreciate any help. Help! I rehomed my fish and received bad news Posted: 26 Jun 2020 12:30 PM PDT So, ive keeping 4 babie goldfish in a 39 gallon for 1 year. I know overcrowded, they were given by a kid on.school who used them for a science experiment and he was gonna keep them in that bowl. But he remembered i had a "big tank" and gave the fish to me" they were 1 fantail,1 pearlscale and 2 orandas. I recently rehomed them to a dude with a 75 gallon. A win win, until yesterday he apologised because his gf cleaned the tank when wasnt home with soap my 2 orandas died. Only 2 survived my pearlscale and fantail. Thet had like ammonia burns. Im treating them with stress coat and aquarium salt. They are doing better. Any other treating suggestions? [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Jun 2020 04:09 PM PDT (i've never used reddit before sorry if i'm doing this totally wrong) I have 4 humongous goldfish. 1 common, 1 comet, 2 fantail. i've had them for 6+ years, they started in a 10 gallon tank as tiny babies but they obviously outgrew that. now they are outgrowing their 29 gallon tank as well! i cannot afford a bigger tank. i'm looking to rehome them, but i have no idea where to start. none of my friends are looking to adopt except one with a backyard pond, but i have some concerns about this.
my dad has spoken to our local pet store owner about this (small business basically just staffed by the one man) and he says he would be willing to take them in, but i'm worried they might be sold to someone who won't care for them well (goldfish are so commonly abused!!). despite this worry, i'm leaning towards the pet store rather than the pond because i just don't think they would do well outdoors. are these valid concerns? are there other options i'm missing? i like to consider myself a decent fishkeeper, but i just don't know what to do. Any tips for quieter filtration? Posted: 26 Jun 2020 08:20 AM PDT Like the title says, I'm looking for ways to make my goldfish tank a bit quieter. It's a 45 gallon tank with 2 larger fancies and one very small/juvenile Oranda. I currently have an aqueon quietflow 50, a big sponge filter, and two "bubble bars" running. It's great for the fish; the baby is growing nice and quickly and the two larger ones love to put their faces down and turn barrel rolls in the bubbles (they don't have buoyancy issues - they scare me half to death all the time and then right themselves when they decide to with zero issues). The problem is, the tank is right by my desk and all those things together are LOUD. I know goldfish need extra filtration and oxygenation but I'm at my wit's end, I can't concentrate on my work with all the splashing and humming! Anyone here with quiet tanks - what do you use? Just wondering about water parameters Posted: 26 Jun 2020 02:34 PM PDT Water parameters and tank conditions are as follows: 2 Ranchu 65 gallons tank Canister filter + media reactor (2 meals parsed out each day) pH = 7.2 Ammonia = 1.0 Nitrite = 0.0 Nitrate = 0.0 My question is, what's possibly happening at this stage of the nitrogen cycle? Ways to lay your fish to rest? Posted: 26 Jun 2020 01:14 AM PDT I'm not really sure how to word this, I'm still overwhelmed by it, but my goldfish is being euthanized tomorrow morning. I'm not sure how to properly lay him to rest as I live in an apartment and can't bury him. I've had him since 7th grade and I just graduated in June, he's been here for a long time, I don't just want to throw in in the bin. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to go about this? Posted: 26 Jun 2020 09:40 AM PDT I have an oranda goldfish that I have had for about 3 months. She is in a 60 gallon with two small fancies and one baby oranda. She is the largest in the tank and my first goldfish. She has been floating upside down in her tank but still has plenty of energy when my girlfriend or I walk up to the tank. She will flip herself right side up and still eats with the others. She is starting to get a rash on her belly that is usually above the water level when she is floating upside down. I have tried to fast her for 2-3 days but she continues to float. I am going to try peas but idk. Any recommendations? Thank you in advance. [link] [comments]
