Crayfish died??

Hi, I recently adopted two males from someone who nearly set them free in a river, which means it was a quick process. I barely had time to read up on them but i informed myself well and all. I feed them regularly in the same Dosis (how much they can eat in 1 hour) each 2-3 days. They've been showing no off signs, but the older male, the blue one, always hid already since I had them. I accepted it because when I sneaked up on them, he climbed around and what not, so I guessed he was just shy.

This morning when I went inside the room to check on them, I found him dead and his mould a little further away. Even more disturbing, it seems his buddy(they mostly got a long very well) ate bits of him.

I'm really upset and hope I didn't do anything wrong. Is it possible the water pump is at fault? It's been a little weak sometimes. I do make sure everything is alright daily, though.

Ps: i also heard you shouldn't keep two in one aquarium , so is that a possibility? We kinda don't have space or money for two tanks and as I said, I quickly adopted them in so there wasn't any planning.

I’m getting a cobalt blue crayfish in a few days, the tank is set up and ready.

The only question I have is, is there anything I need to do in order for the blue color to last? Or will it last as long as it's healthy?

Best seasonings to use?

So my friends and I are planning a boil this weekend and wanted to know what spices we should use! My family uses Zatarain's crab boil, lemons, onions, garlic, and some Tony's, but it always come out way too salty. What do y'all usually use?

Determining Sex

I've had an electric blue crayfish for about a year and a half now and I'm not entirely sure how to tell whether it's male or female. I've called him a male the whole time. I've tried looking up how to tell but am still a bit confused. Thanks!

Substrate for Dwarf Crayfish?

Posted: 26 Jun 2020 12:41 PM PDT

I have a 5 gallon tank with shrimp and fly cal stratum substrate, is this substrate okay for a dwarf crayfish? Also, thought on housing shrimps and crayfish together?
