Goldfish - Aquariums - As a petsmart employee, I see hundreds of goldies end up in *less than ideal* situations. This ORANDA came in today, and deserves better than a crappy bowl. He’s made it this far, and deserves the best home possible. Meet dumbo, we can hope he likes our 2500 gallon koi pond better than any tank.

Help!

I've had sweet Doughnut for about 6 weeks now. He (or she) developed a more spherical shape about 1.5 weeks ago which I thought was the result of overfeeding/constipation. (I've been a sucker for their begging.) So I cut back on the gel food (Repashy super gold) and starting feeding very few shelled peas. I didn't consider that this could be anymore more heinous because I didn't notice any behavioral changes in him or his tank mates. Yesterday I learned that this could be dropsy from a family member after sending a picture because I had a gut feeling that something wasn't right...

I currently have 3 Oranda (all about 4 inches) in a 60 gallon tank. As of this morning the ammonia and nitrites are 0, pH 7.8, and nitrates <5.0. I've been doing water changes (~50%) every day to every other day since I've been re-cycling the tank after cleaning too vigorously. I'm still new to fish keeping so I'm learning.

So plans: I've got Kanaplex and Furan 2 on the way. I'm planning to use both to treat everyone. They should be arriving tomorrow. Doughnut is still a very vibrant goldfish. He really doesn't seem to be affected by his condition. He always interested in food and will energetically swim up to greet me anytime I stand close to the tank. He's my little buddy so I'm trying my best to help him out anyway I can.

Any advice is appreciated!!

Accident caused goldfish's eye to pop out half way

Posted: 03 Jun 2020 09:14 AM PDT

So we got these 2 small goldfish for my son, and me being an engineer I thought the best way to clean the bowl was to use a siphon. So I did and one of the fish came to see what's happening and fish got sucked in the siphon. She managed to get out but one of her eyes is bulging from the pressure. 24 hours later she's still alive but I fear the trauma and the injury might kill it. Is she still at risk or had enough time passed for her to be safe?

Orbeez as a tank decoration?

Posted: 03 Jun 2020 09:02 AM PDT

I've seen a lot of discussion about using orbeez as a decoration in fish thanks online. It seems as a fun and colorful way to decorate my fish's home.

The orbeez are 1cm in diameter, my 2 goldfish are quiet small (5cm long, tail excluded) so it seems impossible for them to swallow an orbee. What do you guys think?
