Posted: 27 May 2020 10:15 PM PDT Hey guys I've seen the videos and I have no evidence of this but now I'm terrified I've got bobbits. I had a coral beauty who died suddenly a while back who looked like he had some wounds where he was losing some scales on his sides (could've been flukes they were clear scale shaped things hanging off him, only about 2 total) and his tail was ragged. (Worth noting I have a four stripe damsel (who is about 3" long I would guess, and I would think he'd be gone if I had bobbits but he stays towards the top of my tank) and they used to chase each other sometimes). He just started staying in the burrow he shared with my engineer all the time and one day died (also had a heater malfunction take the tank to 84-86 degrees shortly before he died). I honestly think it was the heat and possibly my damsel/lack of algea that got him since I didn't know my heater had blown. But after bobbit stories the wounds on his sides worry me. For context my engineer goby constantly has spots oj his sides where it looks like his skin is a little scrapped and has some bubbles to it (he's also nearly 2ft long and stupid and tries to fit through a hole the size of my pinky finger so i attribute that to him being a dumb dumb). I've had my fish/rock 7 years ish now, have changed tanks 3 times to the current biocube 32, each time using a new sand bed and new sand but the same rock. No large rocks to speak of, biggest maybe weighs 5 lbs and it's about half the size and shape of a basketball. 25lbs of live rock total. Thanks and sorry for my paranoia [link] [comments]
Does anybody else like to pick a specific fish, or am I just an asshole? Posted: 28 May 2020 12:19 AM PDT When at my LFS I like to pick specific fish even in tanks full of seemingly identical fish. The workers aren't a fan of it. Anybody else do this? [link] [comments]

Marineland's 5-gallon portrait AIO tank conversion to a Pico reef Posted: 27 May 2020 10:00 PM PDT I'm gonna use Marineland's 5G portrait tank as a pico reef for my room. I want to know if there are any powerful return pumps I can use to replace the stock one with? So that I can avoid placing a powerhead/wavemaker within the display area of the tank. Hermit Crab Killing Everything in my Tank Posted: 27 May 2020 03:42 PM PDT Hey everyone, I bought a cleanup crew (7 snails & 7 crabs) about a year ago. When I bought them, they were all pretty small and as time has gone by, they've grown and snails have even reproduced and everything was great...unil about a month ago. One of the hermit crabs decided to kill all of the other crabs in the tank. I began to notice fewer and fewer crabs in the tank and then their shells and claws started to show up on the sandbed. Once he was done with the crabs, he moved onto my snails. I went from having like 15 snails to only 2-3 in a short period of time. The crab rubs it in my face by moving into the shell of whatever creature he finished killing lol. I need a cleanup crew but I'm afraid to add anything else to the tank because I know he'll just continue his murderous crab rampage (crabpage?). What should I do with this crab? Is this normal behavior? Is it a sign that something is wrong in my tank? Thanks! [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 May 2020 08:46 PM PDT I put an addition 20 pounds of caribsea shapes in an established tank and it's causing my skimmer to go nuts, it's been doing this for the last 3 weeks with no end in sight. Has anybody had this issue previously, if so what was your solution/suggestion to solve this. [link] [comments]
