If you don’t have an algae turf scrubber you’re doing it wrong.

Posted: 30 May 2020 10:28 PM PDT

I've been in the hobby off and on for 15 years. Mostly on. I have struggled with swinging parameters, ups and downs. Dino's, cyno, turf algae, gha, explosive xenia, flying fish all the normal crap.

But putting turf scrubbers in my two tanks has been the smartest thing I've ever done. Within it seemed like days probably more like weeks my one problem tank became stable and easy. My "good" tank became my dream tank. They've been nothing but beneficial. No more problem growths. No more parameter swings, even no more chillers. The only down side has been increased evaporation and having to clean it once a week.

My pod population has exploded, my skimmers are empty, to the point I only run them for aeration now 6 hours a night. My corals are thriving, I really am upset that I took so long to try them.

They're cheap to diy and there's quite a few commercial options now. Do it.

What do you think about the high end coral game?

While it isn't as popular here, at least from what I can see, a lot of people out there do buy in and get an OG Bounce, 1 polyp frag of GMK's, or that JF Homewrecker nub. What do you think about high end coral?

First time doing some cable management. Learned I should have made the board a little smaller, but I’m proud for my first time!

What is this? It might be a weirdly shaped rock but it almost looks like a small starfish. Is it a pest?

Skimmer waste

Posted: 30 May 2020 08:20 AM PDT

Does anyone have experience using skimmer waste as plant food in your garden? Have I been doing premium fertilizer down the drain for years? Is there to much salt that it would kill my plants? Thanks in advance!
