This little dude was ugly as sin last week when I bought him and now he’s my best looking inhabitant.

One year exactly that I started with the hobby, learned so much, still am, everyday. Love it!

I’m not sure why the feather duster is so popular in the tank, but my bi-color blenny felt like this was a good spot to hangout for a few minutes.

Overflow

Posted: 14 May 2020 09:27 PM PDT

I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to build an overflow like in this tank in an undrilled rimless tank. Overflow I want: https://www.aquariumdepot.ca/marineland-frameless-cube-corner-flo-aquarium-60-gal.html?___SID=U

Tank I want: https://www.aquariumdepot.ca/marineland-cube-frameless-aquarium-24x24x18-45gal.html?___SID=U

Would it be worth it to just pay the extra money to get a pre drilled tank with a nice looking overflow, or is this something I could do myself?

Thank you

Reliable heaters that won’t cook my tank/overpowering vs underpowering?

Posted: 14 May 2020 08:35 PM PDT

I'm starting a new tank after a long hiatus and I was going through online reviews for some major brands (Aqueon, Eheim, etc) and the amount of people who have their fish killed by defective heaters is scary. Any suggestions on very reliable heaters?

My solution was to purchase an Inkbird thermostat (which as good as it is, it also fails), then plug two heaters to it. My main concern is over-powering vs. under-powering - some people seem to prefer splitting the wattage between two heaters so if the thermostat fails they won't cook your fish. I'm hoping the stand alone thermostat will help with that, and my logic is going with higher wattage heaters so they're never operating at full steam, lowering the risk of failure. Any thoughts or alternative solutions? I probably sound very paranoid but I put so much effort into this build I don't want a faulty heater to ruin everything
