i am thinking of adding a air stone of some kind to my axolots tank. Thoughts and recommendations? Hoping it will boost oxygen and prevent dust and crap from settling on the surface a bit more.

He’s a bit confused about how to actually use his new Aztec themed hide, but at least he’s happy!

Just put a natural wood hide in my axolotls tank will this affect him at all?

The tarpins from the log have kinda turned his water brown, I have a charcoal filter pack to lessen the impact of the tarpins. Will this cause any issues for my axolotl?

Hi I am still anew at caring for my axolotl, Toothless. Does anyone know what these white splotches are? And how to get rid of them if they are harmful?

Help! New axolotl owner with serious issue.

So my roommate got some axolotls awhile a go, and then she moved out a month ago and couldn't take them with. So I inherited two lovely axolotls named Solar(M) and Shade(F).

Well the lately no matter how much I clean their tank, or how well I scrub everything down and rinse it. The tank clouds up really bad within 3 days. I have a dual filter that uses charcoal and a phosphate filter. Along with 2 other bubble filters. They only have 2 insterts so far, a terracotta pot and a cave that my roommate got with them. They are estimated to be about 5 years of age, from what she knew.

I also feed them blood worms at the moment, with a dash of earth worms and pellets now and then.

It had me worried for awhile, especcially when I began to notice that A. They stopped eating as much. B. The males color began to change a lot and he developed lots of white spots, some tiny, some big, and a red mark on his head. His gills also began to become nonexistant.

Then yesterday I noticed one of the males front feet(?) was coated in what looked like fuzz and was falling off. His other front foot skin was looking weird as well.

Any food I miss in cleaning out also gets the weird fuzz.

I immediately began the fridging process to try to slow it down until I can find out whats wrong. I don't live any where near an aquatic vet specialist.

I am very concerned and love them alot already. The female seems fine, no issues with her besides a duller coat and smaller gills.

I will post pics as a response to this because I can't find out how to post them in here.

Axolotl loosing weight but is eating normally

Posted: 09 May 2020 08:01 PM PDT

My brother's axolotl has started loosing weight quickly over the past couple months but hasn't changed his feeding habits at all. He eats earthworms, frozen blood worms, and sometimes live small fish.

We have tried looking online for any answers as to why he could be loosing weight but there are only things on if an axolotl stops eating and looses weight, but he hasn't stopped eating.

Perhaps it could be some sort of parasite? He started loosing weight before he was ever given live fish, so its not anything he picked up from them. Any ideas? We are really worried about him because he has gotten very skinny

Is this a playing thing? Or a suffocating thing? (Plz ignore the water quality, I took the video in when I was in the process of a water change)
