What’s wrong with my Axo, constantly swimming with its tail upwards clearly something of a gas issue doesn’t seem like bloating. Can anybody please tell me if this is natural or that it is in trouble. Checked the water conditions they are fine.

Please help, I don’t know what’s wrong with him. He was fine until last night when I noticed his water was pink, this happened overnight. He has no other symptoms.

Is this flow too strong? It seems like it might just be on the surface but I'm new to this so what do I know.

More Questions for someone getting an axolotl

Posted: 06 May 2020 09:23 AM PDT

I just set up my tank last night that way it can cycle for awhile. How do you guys have your tanks set up and what type of things like hideaways do you have in the tank that your axolotls like?

Worms from my backyard?

Posted: 06 May 2020 11:03 AM PDT

I recently ran out of earthworms and due to COVID-19 I haven't been able to get more. I have a big container of pellets from a breeder when my axie was a baby, but I know I can't keep using those for long. Is it ok to use worms dug up from my backyard?

Help with feeding/snacking

Is there a species of worm small enough for my 2 1/2 inch female? Frozen bloodworms just end up messy half the time. She won't take crickets hand fed but she will take a bite out of bloodworms once they thaw if I put it close-ish to her. Freya

Sick lotl need advice

Posted: 05 May 2020 06:20 PM PDT

Hi y'all I have a million questions. I currently have a 7inch axolotl who has these red dots all over his body. He looks like he has the chicken pox. After a crap ton of research I think it's a bacterial infection. He is currently tubbed with with furan 2 now I read somewhere to split the does in half so I did. Now his activity level is high. He eats and poops just not really much in the tub he hates the tub. Water parameters are all good. His tank is a little warm last couple days around 68. But getting that taken care of.

so my questions are

  1. Was splitting the medication the right thing to do?
  2. How do I know it's working?
  3. Do I need to do anything to the tank? (Been doing 25% water changes every other day)
  4. How do I keep him from stressing out in the tub?

Any and all advice is welcome. I don't want him to get so sick he can't come back from it.

Hey guys! I'm looking into getting an aquarium chiller for my 30gal axolotl tank! Does anyone have a specific brand or kind they use/suggest? Also, my tank stays about 70 degrees but our AC isnt working so I want to make sure his tank doesnt get too warm if it doesnt yet fixed. Thank you in advance!
