How do I feed my mystery snails and ramshorns without starving one or population-exploding the other?

Posted: 29 May 2020 11:56 PM PDT

I have a 2.5 gallon tank that started with two mystery snails and two ramshorn snails. Obviously, I now have many baby ramshorn snails. I've tried to scrape off any eggs I find and to not overfeed. But I think my two mystery snails were getting lethargic? I'm not positive, as I'm a first time snail parent, but it worried me enough that I upped their snello feedings from once every few days to every other day. It's not that I dislike the babies. I'm actually loving the slow reveal of their stunning colors and patterns as they grow. But I am worried about the equilibrium of the tank as a whole (it is a planted tank) and especially the possibility of conflicting needs between species.

My nerite fell off the wall last night and I found him, righted him, and today he has been out fully but not able to move. I thought he was dead but he’s been slightly curving his sides. His foot seems damaged. Is there anything I can do to help him recover?

How do I cook down my snail tank?

Posted: 29 May 2020 03:09 PM PDT

My thermostat is set to 73 degrees but it has crept up to 85 over the past week. Is there a safe way to cool it down? It's next to a window, so I closed the shades but the temp has just gone up.

Any help is appreciated! I am still pretty new to this.

how do i safely feed my nerites?

Posted: 29 May 2020 10:49 AM PDT

i'm a new snail owner as of about a week ago. i have two nerites that are still on the smaller side. they've spent a lot of their time inactive so far so they haven't eaten much. i have some sinking shrimp pellets (although my betta usually tries to steal them...) and need to get algae wafers. i also eat plenty of zucchini so i will be able to give them that as well. i am concerned however because i've read a lot about how leaving algae or zucchini in the tank for long can make your parameters fatal. my question is how long is too long? i would like to be able to leave the food since they haven't eaten much but i don't want to cause a problem
