- Our pond has become this mess literally overnight. We have two big filters with UV lights..we are in the UK so it is sunny and hot at the moment. Any tips how to control this algae? Don't like to use chemicals but will if really needed. Turned waterfall off just before pic.
- Can I install a 4 inch bottom drain and a 3 inch bottom drain? (Already bought 3 inch bd but I want a 4 inch and I'll use 4 inch pipe but 2 inch pump)
- My fish has a broken tail (or something). He's still eating but sometimes he's just laying motionless in the pond. Other times he's doing backflips and struggles to get 'back up'. Is he suffering and should I end his misery?
- How do you hook up multiple retrofit bottom drains? Should the pipes converge at or near the pump or can it be connected anywhere?
- Please can someone what is this on my dead koi. For a few weeks i noticed algae on this koi which is a year old. I was convinced it was nothing. I came home and seen it at the bottom dead. Im concerned because almost all baby koi i bought last year have died even though the water is cleaned regular

Helpful hint for hidden net to help with bird issues! Posted: 29 May 2020 10:33 PM PDT So I have a koi pond that backs up to a wooden ravine area. Consequentially, I have ducks visiting all the time and pooing in the pond causing algae blooms. I hate to throw the black net over the pond bc of my water plants and it's ugly in the summer. Btw I live in Indiana for reference. I started some research and found that stringing fishing line across the pond forming a barrier is helpful. Keeps predators out, deters ducks and herons bc they can't swim around. Eagles won't be able to swoop down and scoop out fish. The only downside is you cannot freely clean the surface with a net. I suggest forming rows of the fishing line so you can sweep a net in a straight line to catch surface debris. I tied 30 lb fishing line on a metal stake, strung it across the pond, and tied it to another metal stake pulling tight. Formed rows on half the pond so far. No ducks at all! My water is already more clear. I'm happy to use this solution before having to resort to some extra algae treatments. I have to plant my water Lilly then I will complete the rest of the barrier. Super happy. I hope this information helps another pond owner! 🐠 🙏🏼😀 [link] [comments] | ||
