Tips for starting a snail tank?

Posted: 01 May 2020 04:50 AM PDT

Hey everyone, I've only ever had snails as companions to my freshwater fish, mostly nerites and mystery. But lately I've been really fascinated by this subreddit and wanted to see if the community has any tips on starting one? Water conditions, species vs community, diets, substrates, filters, etc? Bonus pics of my favorite Gold Inca, Mac!

How do I stop my mystery snail from digging up my carpet?

Snailianapolis news: Zeuchi had a little to much fun partying last night and did too many lines of calcium, he was last seen crawling around the tank at Mach speed until he finally crashed in the dumpster behind the filter. Please let us know if you know his whereabouts.

Mystery snail - bent antenna

Posted: 30 Apr 2020 10:13 PM PDT

My mystery snail climbed onto my filter intake today and got stuck. I had to help him off and I thought he was fine, but I just noticed one of his antenna is bent. Will he be okay? Will it heal?

I have a bunch of baby snails in my aquarium and I want to separate them from the breeding adults into a different tank. What's the best way to go about doing that?

I know mystery snail is the common name for their species. But why are they called that? What makes them so mysterious?
