Aquariums - May PotM (Picture of the Month) Contest!

May PotM (Picture of the Month) Contest!

Posted: 01 May 2020 04:10 AM PDT

Hello everyone!

In the spirit of coping with the COVID-19 crisis, and being fortunate in some cases to spend some extra time and TLC on our aquariums, this month's POTM will be a "before and after" theme in which case you will post a before shot and after shot of your aquarium to show improvement/cleaning/rescaping. We do not intend to verify or force proper time stamping to prove that the before and after is during the COVID crisis, so we will accept any before and after shot as appropriate.

The following rules apply to submissions:

  • Can be aquariums, ponds, tubs, other plastic containers.

  • Must be an actual aquarium and not a drawing, render, or online creation.

  • You must be the owner of said picture.

  • Must be a proper before and after shot. If we suspect tampering of the original in a way not consistent with a true before/after you will be disqualified.

  • Must have both a BEFORE and AFTER photo in imgur, either as an album, two separate imgur links, or combined in a photo.

  • Must not break any current sub rules

With all the other rules being the known ones:

  • Submissions will only be accepted via modmail. We get a lot of mail so please make the subject "POTM MAY" (all caps). If this isn't the subject we may miss your submission.

  • Submissions must be hosted on imgur

  • Only one submission per user

  • No watermarks or advertising of any kind

The submission period will end at 23:59 EST on 5/24. At the conclusion, a voting post will be made and voting will occur for 1 week. At the conclusion of the voting period, the votes will be counted, the winner determined and notified, and prizes distributed.

Prizes:

-Your picture will be the new sidebar picture of the sub for a month

-You will be awarded a special trophy flair. Due to flair constraints, for now this will replace your current flair, though you will have the option of switching back to your current flair if you choose, you will always have the option to display your 'PotM trophy'

Good luck to everyone! The mod team looks forward to your submissions!

This ocellatus kept getting bullied to the top of the tank so I built it a shell pent house.

Is this a grapevine? Will it rot? I had it in my tank for about a month and no visible rot other than fungi which are almost gone now.

So I’m thinking about getting a background for the tank. 1) I’m going nuts on what background it should be, underwater, black, blue 2) The fish tank is rather close to the wall, how do I apply it?
