- Please help me out with a few tank questions. Algae/substrate issues.
- Currently have the Current Satellite Plus for my 55 gallon but am wondering if I should double up and purchase another one. I think it’s a 30 W, 2000 lumens. Currently have Jungle Val, Sword and Anubias. But at some point would like more demanding plants.
- I left my Anubias to grow from 3 small leafs to this, the roots have buried deep inside the driftwood!
- I've spent the last month cutting off a strange algae from my java fern leaves...
- Looking for recommendations for plug and play CO2 system
| /r/plantedtank's Weekly Random Acts of Kindness! Posted: 17 Apr 2020 03:04 PM PDT The Purpose: We all perform tank maintenance. Sometimes, perfectly good plants end up in the trash because they simply outgrow their limited environment. Why not share these plants with another hobbyist? This monthly thread offers a space where buyers and traders can congregate, promote biodiversity, and make the world better. Offering other aquarium-related items for sale or trade is also acceptable, but keep in mind this is a "Random Acts of Kindness" thread. | I've spent the last month cutting off a strange algae from my java fern leaves... Posted: 17 Apr 2020 07:21 PM PDT ... only to find out today that it isn't algae, it is propagating new java fern. One of the plantlets managed to survive my destruction for long enough to sprout leaves, at which point I realized my mistake. I thought I had discovered a new type of algae that burrows deep into plant leaves because I certainly could not pull it off. How's your day going? [link] [comments] | ||
| Looking for recommendations for plug and play CO2 system Posted: 17 Apr 2020 02:47 PM PDT Hello. I'm looking to add CO2 to an established planted tank and am hoping for some specific recommendations. My goal is to grow a foreground carpet and add some red. Some info... Tank is 36 gallons, fully stocked community tank. Fairly heavily planted. Existing light is Beamswork 3600, .5 W. Lights on 8 hours a day, night light phase otherwise. External (large) filter, in-line heated at 78. An air stone runs constantly. Been running 2 years, good growth from amazons and crypts. Many Java ferns, Anubia and misc. Change 60% water every 7-10 days. Water parameters unknown and I would not be looking to do much, if any, water testing. I supplement with Flourish excel, iron, and flourish (3 separate liquids). Algae is well controlled but is present. Small hairs will build up on larger amazon leaves that I trim. I'm looking for a system (or set of components) that I can just pop on the tank like magic. I'd like minimal intrusion into the tank and whatever apparatus able to be kept in the cabinet. I'd like to keep it around $100-150 if that's realistic. Thanks in advance for any advice.
