One of my new set ups - repost cause rules n shit

It took 5 days, but the water in my carboy has finally cleared up. So far, I have seen planaria, a fresh water limpet, and many NZ mud snails. I am a little surprised that there have not been any freshwater crustaceans or anything yet but it is early days yet

Posted my first build yesterday and made this one closely after. Hope everyone enjoys my amateur builds! This was before I put the cap on!

Found this snail yesterday in the local creek. Found it in water so I’m assuming it’s likely fully aquatic?

What are these things in my first Jarrarium?

Algae bloom

So I cocked up and put my Jar in too much sunlight and the Algae has gone made. I've done a water change and now the Shrimp don't look too happy. Could this be due to the Algae or the water change? Can I do another water change from my pond? I'll check the Ph of both and if close I would assume it would be ok to do at least 50% or more or should I wait? Just worried the Shrimp are suffering.

Where to get massive jars

Posted: 15 Apr 2020 08:35 PM PDT

I am getting into the hobby and have made about 20 jarrariums so far. I am looking for massive jars to build a waterfall next but I am having trouble finding anything online. Does anyone have good recommendations. Also when this covid stuff is over that stores do yall recommend.

Life! Spotted a little millipede in my first closed jar today! I worried that he was dead, but he has been moving slowly. I assume he’ll be okay since he’s survived in there for a few days now. Will hot or cold temperatures pose any sort of threat to him?

Water replacement

I have a small jarrarium purchased from eBay containing plants, a few small trumpet snails, Ramshorn snails and 3 small red shrimps, I'm not sure of the species. Question is what water should I top up the jarrarium? I don't have a ro water filter,my tap water is soft and comes through copper pipes ( I know too much copper is toxic to shrimps) can I use tap water or rainwater, or do I need to buy ro or de ionised water.
