Moss sprouting in mini jar

Posted: 08 Apr 2020 08:15 AM PDT

Found a few different moss species in my yard in western New York. They seem to be liking the tiny jar. Sorry the view is a bit dewy https://i.imgur.com/ys9R35h.jpg

Question about making a moss jarrium.

Do I need to add a gravel and charcoal later, or can I just add a little soil for an open, moss only jarrium?

i've noticed what looks like mosquito larvae in my pond jars, and was wondering if they have any negative effects being in there? also, how much algae growth should i have and how do i promote this growth? i couldn't find algae at the pond i took the water from.

You all inspired me! My first jarrarium, a fern and a piece of groundcover from my backyard. Wondering if I should put the lid on and make it a closed jar?

Started my first pond in a jar, how do I go about identifying what creatures I'm going to find once it clears up?
