Made a little jar from a creek nearby. Seeing a lot of action. Need help identifying though!

i've noticed what looks like mosquito larvae in my pond jars, and was wondering if they have any negative effects being in there? also, how much algae growth should i have and how do i promote this growth? i couldn't find algae at the pond i took the water from.
