| goldfish having trouble swallowing food Posted: 16 Apr 2020 10:48 PM PDT my smallest goldfish seems to be having trouble swallowing his food. he gets it in his mouth and keeps letting it float out only to try to eat it again. i've only first noticed this today and i cleared out all the gravel in my tank yesterday. | update on tofu, bob and gerard Posted: 17 Apr 2020 12:43 AM PDT just gonna keep posting these updates! i would appreciate any kinds of advice. my water testing kit arrived and i did a test as soon as i got it, nitrate/nitrite/ph levels are all ok but the ammonia levels were too high (4.0 ppm). i did a water change of around 40%, and filled it in with treated water. i will be testing the water an hour later and try to do daily water changes & ammonia tests. +also, the sinking pellets i bought arrived with the kit and i tried feeding a little. they seem to like it, and tofu (the fish who had trouble swallowing food) managed to eat it. maybe the original pellets i was feeding were too big for him? | Why hasn’t my female comet goldfish released her eggs Posted: 16 Apr 2020 04:24 PM PDT The male goldfish have been chasing her around the pond for about 9 hours and her fins are shredded and when ever she escapes she just sits on the bottom till she gets attacked again. Do you think it could be egg binding or is that normal? [link] [comments] | ||

| Large plastic storage tub as a permanent home for fancy goldies??? Posted: 16 Apr 2020 01:28 PM PDT I'm new to fish keeping but has been obsessed with goldies for a very long time ! Lockdown has given me time to think and i really want to home three goldfish (since i've seen people recommended having more than one, preferably three or more). From the research i have done this would require a 40 gallon tank. I'm a girl on a budget and have seen people suggest large tubs as temporary homes, is this ok for a permanent option if the tub is the same size as a 40 gallon tank? I'd love to have sort of an indoor pond kinda deal. If this isn't viable of course will not bring home any goldfish till I have the money together to buy a lovely tank <3 [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 16 Apr 2020 12:24 PM PDT Hi guys! Newish to reddit so sorry if I mess up the post. I have a comet goldfish that I won at a fair he's about two years old now and I want/need to get him a big tank. I'm not sure really what would be best, I know he would need at least 25-30 gallons. And I'm also looking to redo his the decorations, substrates, plants. Any recommendations or help would be appreciated ! [link] [comments] | ||

| Please help me, my fish tank became cloudy and white particles are floating in the water Posted: 16 Apr 2020 05:06 AM PDT I got my goldfish tank almost a year ago and no major problems appeared until yesterday. A few days ago my fish got a few little white dots on their fins. it has happened before so I wasn't worried, I went to the local pet store and got the medicine, which was methylene. The label suggested getting out the activated carbon from the filter, so I did that. It worked, the dots became a lot tinier. But today morning I noticed that the water is cloudy and white mold-like things are floating in the water and they are also sitting on the leaves of the plants. I did a 40% water change, cleaned the plants with a clean sponge, used some water conditioner and put back the activated charcoal. I am currently out of water tests, but I have already ordered a new pack, it should arrive in one or two days. I am really worried that my fish won't survive. I love them, but now I don't know what I did wrong, and I feel bad for them. My tank is a 40 liter one, and it has two little goldfish in it. I know it is tiny for them, but I currently can't afford a bigger one, so I put a lot of effort into keeping it clean and balanced. What should I do now? Please don't attack me, I feel pretty bad already. :( [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 16 Apr 2020 04:19 AM PDT With my check coming in I would like to work on getting a bed room pond (50 gal rubbermaid stock) and I wanted to know what filter, live plants and substrate and tank mates for a young goldfish ranchu or ryukin !I have tried to do my own research but i'm afraid that since i'm trying too build an indoor pound most available answers to my question may not apply and I would prefer others experience! (I would like to have 3 pearlscales as the tank mates and maybe a few shrimp and snails but again I don't know how a anchu or ryukin would do with them) [link] [comments] |
